Westwick is 1 mile from Barnard Castle in the heart of Teesdale, part of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, one of England's least spoilt and most beautiful areas.
Characterised by its unique geology, flora and fauna, it offers something for everyone: the Bowes Museum and Raby Castle, traditional market towns and villages, with speciality shops-including many antique shops, birdwatching, fishing, golfing, riding and many other sports.
The Yorkshire Dales and Durham are close by and further afield are York, Newcastle, Hadrian's Wall and the Lake District. Beautiful walking country is right on the doorstep with The Pennine and Teesdale Ways. The River Tees and magnificent waterfalls at High Force are all close by. Visit Moorhouse National Nature reserve near Cow Green Reservoir to see rare Blue Gentians and Teesdale Violets. There are many cycle routes and off road cycling adventures possible in the area.
